VIVA calls on Squire Technologies’ Signalling Gateway solution for number portability service, delivering sustained, outstanding customer performance for more than six years

Summary: Squire Technologies’ SG solution provides secure ETSI / ANSI interworking, enabling VIVA to implement number portability services across multiple networks. In service for more than six years, the solution continues to provide a foundation for core network innovation and future NGN migration.

Dorchester, UK, 14th July 2014

Squire Technologies, the signalling specialists to the telecoms industry, today announced that VIVA, a leading mobile operator in the Dominican Republic and a subsidiary of Trilogy International Partners LLC, has deployed its Signalling Gateway solution, the SVI_SG to support number portability for SMS services with integrated signalling conversion.

As a leading mobile network operator, VIVA has to support interconnection with other networks and enable number portability for its subscribers across its range of services. The SVI_SG solution performs translation between the MAP and IS41 signalling used in GSM and CDMA based networks respectively. This functionality means that messages can be successfully routed from any destination to any required end-point and that number portability can be fully implemented.

“The Squire Technologies’ solution was first deployed in 2008. Since then, our network has grown and our traffic capacity has expanded. The solution has grown with us, delivering the complex functionality we need while providing outstanding performance,” commented Jose Hernandez, Core Operations Manager at VIVA. “It’s right at the heart of our network – and the performance levels enable us to provide the exceptional service that our customers expect.”

“Number portability is a critical function of any mobile network. It must be implemented with a completely robust solution in order to ensure both regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction. We’re proud that our platform has given flawless, sustained performance for six years and we are continuing to invest in its evolution,” said Zacchary Couldrick, Sales Manager at Squire Technologies. “Any mobile network operator looking to consolidate its network assets while securing a clear migration path to an NGN core should consider the benefits of working with our team.”

About the Squire Technologies SVI_SG / SVI_STP

The Squire Technologies’ SVI_SG solution is a highly scalable, high throughput solution that can be deployed in legacy, NGN or hybrid environments, providing the flexibility to support any routing requirement. The SG capabilities enable translation between different protocols to be achieved in a single platform, dramatically reducing costs.

The SVI_SG can be combined with STP functionality, enabling efficient routing for all signalling traffic. The integrated solution allows mobile network operators to deploy a single platform both to resolve current challenges and as a foundation for future network migration. Additional functionality can be added using proven modules from the Squire Technologies’ range to enable support for number portability, global title routing and more.

While another major vendor end-of-lifes their SS7 signalling products, operators can confidently invest for the future, securing long-term ROI with Squire Technologies’ SS7 Signalling products

Summary:

Demand for SS7 capabilities remains strong and is often a crucial element of both current and NGN networks. Despite this, many vendors, including most recently Sonus / Performance Technologies,  have released EoL notices for their SS7 solutions. Squire Technologies provides a simple replacement solution, offering both investment protection and a clear roadmap for operators, making it the clear choice for the provision of SS7 expertise and capabilities.

Dorchester, UK, 10th July 2014

Why would you buy EoL or unsupported SS7 products for your network signalling requirements? With a number of vendors, such as Sonus / Performance Technologies, declaring End of Life (EoL) notices for their signalling products, including the legacy SEGWay solution, Simon Dinnage, Business Development Director at Squire Technologies asks how network operators can protect their SS7 investments.

“When you invest in a signalling solution, it is reasonable to suppose it will have a long-term life expectancy, be fully supported and deliver attractive ROI. Despite this, some vendors are deleting key product lines, creating uncertainty and enhanced risk for operators,” he comments. “SS7 continues to be a key requirement – while NGN migration continues to accelerate, there are always occasions when an operator needs SS7, either for new interconnections or to leverage existing solutions. Operators need to know that they can invest in appropriate SS7 solutions to meet their needs without the fear of buying unsupported products.”

Squire Technologies, the signalling specialists to the telecoms industry continues to affirm its commitment to continuous evolution and support of SS7 technologies. Whether in the form of a signalling gateway to enable interconnection or whether in the shape of specialist interworking capabilities, SS7 remains of fundamental importance.

“As a vendor, we understand how important new protocols such as Diameter are – but we also know that SS7 solves many problems. Operators need the confidence to obtain specialist, expert advice as well as proven solutions to help them meet signalling challenges and there’s no doubt that SS7 is not going away as quickly as has been predicted,” he added.

Squire Technologies has long experience in the replacement of defunct solutions. It has been actively replacing Cisco PGW solutions for more than 18 months in live networks. This expertise in helping operators meet the challenge of replacing deployed solutions ensures smooth, painless network migration. It ensures that operators can eliminate risk and plan more effectively for the future, with full support and warranty for deployed solutions.

Squire Technologies offers a complete range of robust, scalable and flexible SS7 signalling solutions that, combined with any-to-any interworking capabilities enable operators to resolve complex challenges and achieve interconnection with peers. They offer long-term ROI, reducing investment risk.

“Any operator concerned about the future of its SS7 solutions should consider talking to us,” said Mr Dinnage. “Our impartial advice, based on expertise proven in more than 100 countries, will help plan network migration strategies to ensure the most cost-effective and secure investment path.”

Squire Technologies’ strategy is built on the gradual evolution of its core product line, alongside the introduction of new solutions. This means that new features can be requested by customers and rapidly implemented to suit changing circumstances. Legacy vendors can rarely match this unrivalled flexibility, while EoL notifications mean that future enhancements are uncertain. Squire Technologies removes the uncertainty surrounding investments and provides a stable partnership for future growth.

Squire Technologies is committed to the evolution and investment in SS7 solutions to help operators. In addition to offering a complete range of SS7 capabilities, Squire Technologies adds support for protocols that are key requirements for NGN investment – SIP, SIP-I and Diameter, ensuring compatibility with the networks of today and tomorrow – and guaranteeing investment protection.

Mr Dinnage is available for comment and interview.
