VIVA calls on Squire Technologies’ Signalling Gateway solution for number portability service, delivering sustained, outstanding customer performance for more than six years

Summary: Squire Technologies’ SG solution provides secure ETSI / ANSI interworking, enabling VIVA to implement number portability services across multiple networks. In service for more than six years, the solution continues to provide a foundation for core network innovation and future NGN migration.

Dorchester, UK, 14th July 2014

Squire Technologies, the signalling specialists to the telecoms industry, today announced that VIVA, a leading mobile operator in the Dominican Republic and a subsidiary of Trilogy International Partners LLC, has deployed its Signalling Gateway solution, the SVI_SG to support number portability for SMS services with integrated signalling conversion.

As a leading mobile network operator, VIVA has to support interconnection with other networks and enable number portability for its subscribers across its range of services. The SVI_SG solution performs translation between the MAP and IS41 signalling used in GSM and CDMA based networks respectively. This functionality means that messages can be successfully routed from any destination to any required end-point and that number portability can be fully implemented.

“The Squire Technologies’ solution was first deployed in 2008. Since then, our network has grown and our traffic capacity has expanded. The solution has grown with us, delivering the complex functionality we need while providing outstanding performance,” commented Jose Hernandez, Core Operations Manager at VIVA. “It’s right at the heart of our network – and the performance levels enable us to provide the exceptional service that our customers expect.”

“Number portability is a critical function of any mobile network. It must be implemented with a completely robust solution in order to ensure both regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction. We’re proud that our platform has given flawless, sustained performance for six years and we are continuing to invest in its evolution,” said Zacchary Couldrick, Sales Manager at Squire Technologies. “Any mobile network operator looking to consolidate its network assets while securing a clear migration path to an NGN core should consider the benefits of working with our team.”

CMC Networks Reduced Costs by Consolidating Network Core and Delivering Number Portability Solution with Squire Technologies’ Integrated SBC Solution

Summary:

CMC Networks consolidates network core and reduces operating costs with Squire Technologies’ SBC solution. The SVI SBC provides a single platform to interconnect both SIP and H.323 endpoints and was enhanced with MNP / LNP capabilities to support the needs of corporate and wholesale customers.

Dorchester, UK, 5th June 2014

Squire Technologies, signalling specialists to the telecoms industry, today announced that CMC Networks, a leading independent telecoms operator in South Africa has deployed its SVI SBC solution in order to consolidate its network infrastructure and reduce costs.

The SVI SBC replaces six existing session border controller platforms, reducing the amount of rack space required in CMC’s datacentres and lowering operational costs. The new platform provides a single, centralised resource for the management of services and a robust solution that can scale for future growth. The solution delivers additional capacity at a lower cost, reducing the investments required to meet further capacity expansion.

“We selected the Squire Technologies’ solution because it enabled us to overhaul our core network and reduce costs, while meeting the high throughput we need for our valued customers,” said Jonathan Herbst, Senior VoIP Engineer of CMC Networks. “Our datacentres need to be efficient and fully optimised to meet customer requirements, so by reducing our own resource consumption, we can lower our own costs while freeing capacity for customer requirements.”

In addition to providing centralised session control capabilities, the SVI SBC also provided support for mobile and local number portability (MNP and LNP) services in South Africa, meeting regulatory requirements and ensuring that CMC’s customers can benefit from the range of porting options available.

The SVI SBC solution enables portability services to be implemented from a local database, reducing transit costs and delivering more efficient processing. The MNP / LNP capability was enabled through integration of an optional module from Squire Technologies’ range of intelligent service modules.

“The fact that our solution offers the flexibility to manage high volumes of traffic while integrating with local services such as MNP and LNP means that customers can benefit from the most efficient network architecture,” commented Zacchary Couldrick, Sales Manager for Squire Technologies. “We invest heavily in adapting our solutions to meet individual customer requirements, ensuring that they benefit from proven core technology but with the additional capabilities they need for their unique situation.”

CMC Networks has a broad footprint across Africa and beyond, with more than 100 managed point-of-presence sites globally. CMC’s commitment to network evolution and enhancement will see it replicate the SVI SBC solution in other territories to deliver further network efficiencies and cost reduction.

The Squire Technologies SVI SBC solution allows Service Providers, such as CMC Networks, to manage the interconnection of large numbers of different VoIP end points. It manages signalling and media policies and provides a unified interface to the core network. Supporting full protocol interworking, robust SIP trunking and comprehensive call routing control, it is a secure, reliable and highly scalable solution for VoIP networks. It can easily be extended with the addition of optional modules from the Squire Technologies’ range.
