Private GSM Network Deployment
"Looking to provide a GSM service in remote locations with no mobile coverage? One solution is to deploy mini base stations hooked up to satellite networks"
GSM in non-traditional locations
In remote locations with no mobile GSM coverage i.e. boats, oil rigs one way to offer an on-board mobile service is to deploy mini GSM base station. These mini base stations mimic the behaviour of base stations in larger land based mobile operator networks.
For example, when an oilrig worker switches on his/her mobile phone it registers with the mini base station over GSM as it would on dry land.
On making a call, the call is made to the mini base station, which then converts the GSM call signalling to VoIP SIP signalling and transparently passes the voice/data over standard GSM encoded codecs AMR, EFR etc to a satellite.
The satellite transmission is directed to a land based VoIP Media Gateway, which then converts the SIP to ISDN or SS7 signalling and the GSM encoded voice/data to the standard PSTN G711 codec.
VoIP Media Gateway Range
The SVI_MG Media Gateway is a fully featured, carrier-grade product with a flexible and powerful routing engine, offered in 3 models 1000, 2000 and 8000 to satisfy client's deployment requirements and budget.
The media gateway has a high pedigree of worldwide SS7 to VoIP signalling interconnect in over 70 countries, catering for both small interconnect up, and large international points of presence.
The Squire's SS7 Media Gateway provides a single, one-stop SS7 to VoIP product solution offering full SS7 to SIP/H.323 signalling interconnect and TDM Voice/Data conversion to industry-standard VoIP Codecs.
Where competing media gateways only provide lower layer access to the PSTN network especially for SS7 interconnect, the SVI_MG VoIP Media Gateway provides full call control routing for SS7 traffic without the need for third party media gateway controllers or protocol converters.
This VoIP Gateway also supports CAS and R2 protocols for incumbent networks as well as comprehensive ISDN support. Full inter-working is supported across all VoIP and TDM protocols simultaneously, allowing this single multi-protocol TDM to VOIP gateway to be deployed interconnecting differing networks.
